Once upon a time the nanny for Ozzy Osbourne’s kids, Melbourne-based artist Jessie Breakwell (@jessiebreakwellgallery) has spent the past ten years turning her passion into a globally recognized creative journey.
Known for her quirky, abstract, and offbeat paintings, Jessie captures everything from zebras and elephants to tropical birds in a style that is vibrant, whimsical, and unmistakably her own. Each piece tells a story, blending playful imagination with a keen eye for colour and detail.
Her work has graced galleries in London, Los Angeles, and Melbourne, and she’s even shared her creative magic with rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, teaching him how to draw.

“…Ozzy is an avid drawer and painter. He used to get his textas out nearly every day
Jessie recalls with a grin. It’s this playful curiosity and willingness to experiment that defines her work and gives it such infectious energy.

Strongly influenced by the enigmatic Brett Whiteley and French Fauvist master Henri Matisse, Jessie’s paintings are full of wonder, energy, and joy. Her vibrant compositions provide a delightful escape from the pressures of everyday life—so enchanting that her style has often been imitated. “I go to Bali all the time and see copies of my works in every second shop. They even copy my signature,” she laughs, shaking her head at the widespread admiration her work inspires.

Jessie’s watercolours are a marvel, combining intricate detail with perfectly harmonised colours that seem to dance across the page. Each brushstroke demonstrates her playful, free-spirited approach, creating artwork that feels alive and full of personality. Her style is a reminder that art doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful—it can be fun, surprising, and uplifting, transforming any space it inhabits into a joyful haven.
